My name is Anna and I am a thirty-something ex-Londoner who has found a new home in the dreamy Northumberland countryside – a home that I share with my husband, two daughters and Lola the Labrador.

My blog Queen & Countryside is an ode to the beauty and simplicity of Modern Country life and style. Raised by Swedish parents who had a deep love of nature and beautiful design, I have always felt very connected to the countryside and to the simple yet authentic way of life, which the world now knows as hygge – a deep connection with the natural world, warm and cosy home interiors, candlelight, love and laughter.

Today, I think of Modern Country as an ethos which captures the values of my Nordic heritage as well as those of the new family life I have created here in the beautiful British isles, where I have lived since we moved to London when I was five years old.  There is so much to love about the Modern Country way of life – from beautiful home interiors, artisan design and quality craftmanship to finding joy in the simple things, eating well and restoring your soul in the heart of nature.

I have always loved Modern Country home interiors, whether the subtle seduction of Scandi cool, the quiet elegance of contemporary country minimalism or the rustic warmth of classic country style. Our home is often full of action, as my husband and I attempt to keep up with our two young children. But the home is also a place to slow down and to come together with those whom you love most. And I love spending time making our house a home.

Since moving to the country from London, my passion for all things Modern Country has only grown stronger. So I thought I’d share a little of my life and love, on this little blog. I hope you enjoy reading my stories.
